Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films has announced an ambitious new project titled “Mahavatar”, a grand retelling of the legendary story of Parashurama.

Directed by Amar Kaushik the film stars Vicky Kaushal as the Parashurama. “Mahavatar” is set for a Christmas 2026 release. This will be Maddock Films first venture into mythological cinema, moving away from their usual contemporary stories.

Vicky Kaushal’s role as Parashurama promises to showcase intense action and drama, bringing this iconic character to life. This character represents resilience, justice, and retribution.

Often shown with his divine axe, he stands as a fierce warrior and a wise sage. The film will dive into Parashurama’s journey to uphold justice, showcasing his inner struggles and battles against oppression.

Shooting for “Mahavatar” is set to begin in November 2025. The first-look posters, unveiled on November 13th that is today, teased Vicky’s powerful transformation as the eternal warrior, sparking excitement among fans.
