Venkatesh is one hero who never shied away from releasing his movies for big holidays like Sankranthi, Dussehra and Summer. His family has been in production and distribution business over the years since 1959 and whenever there is a chance, Suresh Productions are ready to release the movie. In fact, Suresh Productions and Distributors hold good amount of theatres in both telugu states and they can plan to release any film as they want to. Initially, Irudhu Sattru, boxing theme movie with Rithika as woman boxer and Madhavan as coach, remake Guru, starring Venkatesh as coach and Rithika as boxer reprising her role, was thought to be completed and released in December. The film started shooting in September after, Venkatesh took some time after the release of his previous movie, Babu Bangaram with Maruthi.
The makers were positive that December Christmas would be the right season for the movie release without clashing with Khaidi No.150, 150th film of Chiranjeevi and Gautamiputra Satakarni, 100th film of Nandamuri Balakrishna, slated for epic clash this Sankranthi season. There were talks about Nag joining the fun with his devotional film, Om Namo Venkatesaya, but the makers are now looking for a February release. Sharwanand who scored a hit last Sankranthi with Express Raja, is releasing his Dil Raju production, Shatamanam Bhavati.
Guru makers, S Sashikanth and Sudha Kongara, are now looking for Sankranthi release and the logic behind this thinking is that, last Sankranthi all the films released, Nannaku Prematho, Dictator, Express Raja and Soggade Chinni Nayana recovered costs, while Nannaku Prematho and Soggade became Blockbusters. So the makers are thinking that there is place for one more film and looking to get theatres for the season. If they can get enough theatres, with Suresh Babu’s help, then the last time when three heroes clashed at the box office was 2001, Devi puthrudu, Narasimha Naidu and Mrugaraju. After 16 years, Senior heroes clash at Sankranthi box office would be a treat to watch. Last time in the clash, Narasimha Naidu ran away with the glory while other two were left wondering. Who will win it this time?
