According to recent sources, Venkatesh is in talks on a Telugu remake of Mohanlal‘s latest super hit Malayalam film, “Neru.” Released last year on December 21, “Neru” became a solid hit, grossing 86 crore worldwide and marking Mohanlal’s comeback picture. The film’s director, Jeethu Joseph, is also in talks to work with Mohanlal on the highly anticipated Kollywood project Drishyam 3.

However, preparations for Venkatesh’s role in the “Neru” remake may have hit a hurdle. Beginning January 23, the film will be available on Hotstar in a number of languages, including Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada. This raises concerns about the durability of recreating the picture, people may have already watched it via OTT platforms, risking the remake’s popularity.

Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s cooperation has been successful, with films including “Drishyam,” “Drishyam 2,” “12th Man,” and the upcoming “Ram: Part 1.” While Jeethu previously directed Venkatesh in the Drishyam remake, it is unclear whether talks for the “Neru” remake will continue given the film’s upcoming OTT distribution.
