Veera Raja Veera from PS: 2 weaves the magic of Rahman with Gulzar’s words
The second track from Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan: 2” to be released, “Veera Raja Veera,” is going viral online.
The makers of the Mani Ratnam spectacle “Ponniyin Selvan: 2” revealed the song “Veera Raja Veera” on Saturday. It is the second album to be released.
The song was written by Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman and features Karthi, Trisha, and Shobita Dhulipala against a seascape of battleships. It is modeled around a conventional Shiva Stuti in Raag Adaana from the Dhrupad Dagarvani style.
Tabla and veena are used melodiously in Veera Raja Veera, both instruments enhancing the “murkiyaan” in Kavita Krishnamurti, Shreya Ghoshal, and Arman Dehlvi’s melodic voices.
The Hindi lyrics for Mani Ratnam’s Veera Raja Veera were written by Gulzar, who previously collaborated with AR Rahman on hit albums for movies like “Guru,” “Dil Se,” and “Saathiya,” among other illustrious movies.
The sequel of the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2022, “Ponniyin Selvan: 1,” was directed by Mani Ratnam, a National Award-winning director of timeless successes.
The movie, which will be shown in theatres worldwide on April 28 in the languages of Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, is based on the classic Tamil novel “Ponniyin Selvan” by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
Fans have already been enchanted by Veera Raja Veera’s enchanting music, and they can’t wait to see Ponniyin Selvan 2 right now.
