Chiyaan Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran, directed by S.U. Arun Kumar, faced financial issues and was released late on March 27th. With strong expectations due to the director’s success streak, many hoped for another hit for Vikram after Thangalaan. But did it deliver? Let’s find out!

Veera Dheera Sooran Review

Veera Dheera Sooran Movie Story: Local SP (S.J. Suryah) plans an encounter to kill Peddayya, also known as Ravi (Prithviraj), and his son Kanna (Suraj). With no other option, Peddayya pleads for help from Kaali (Vikram) to save his son. Kaali, who is happily living with his wife Vani (Dushara Vijayan) and two kids, gets caught in this conflict.

Why did Kaali get involved? How is he connected to the clash between Peddayya and the SP? What happens in the end? Veera Dheera Soora answers it all!

Performances: S.J. Suryah surprises with a balanced cop role, adding humor with his signature style. Prithviraj, often given weak roles in Telugu, shines as the main villain, making a strong impact. Seeing him as an aged antagonist feels refreshing. Malayalam actor Suraj excels in a well-written role, bringing natural opportunism to life. Dushara Vijayan fits effortlessly into her strong-woman character.

Vikram, in the title role, delivers a subtle yet powerful performance. His controlled anger, especially in the police station and roadside confrontation scenes, is impressive. Even in action sequences, his minimalistic body language carries deep emotion, leaving a lasting impact.

Technical Aspects: Director S.U. Arun Kumar takes a unique approach, breaking the usual commercial template. The hero doesn’t appear for the first 25 minutes, the interval block is unpredictable, and the action sequences feel fresh and never-seen-before. Instead of over-explaining Kaali’s backstory, he hints at a prequel, keeping the audience engaged. The ending is both amusing and surprising, proving his distinct storytelling style.

Overall, Arun Kumar introduces South audiences to a slow-paced action drama with a realistic touch. G.V. Prakash Kumar’s background score and Theni Eshwar’s cinematography elevate the film, while the production design and art work add authenticity.

Analysis: Veera Dheera Sooran stands out with its unconventional approach to action, avoiding the usual fast-paced mass elements. Arun Kumar’s direction brings freshness, with Vikram delivering a subtle yet powerful performance. The film’s slow narration and weak drama in parts may not appeal to everyone, but its unique storytelling, intense action sequences, and G.V. Prakash’s gripping background score make it a worthwhile watch for those who appreciate raw and realistic cinema.

Verdict: Veera Dheera Sooran is a unique action drama that breaks the usual commercial formula. While its slow pacing and underwhelming drama might not work for everyone, Arun Kumar’s fresh storytelling, Vikram’s restrained performance, and G.V. Prakash’s gripping score make it a compelling watch. If you enjoy unconventional action films with a raw and realistic touch, this one is worth a try!

Bottom Line: Raw, intense, unconventional action drama.
