Varun Tej even though had a very minimal success in terms of box office returns, he had been one of the most talked about successors in the Telugu Film Industry lately. He started his acting career with a different film like Mukunda, directed by Srikanth Addala, opposed to being launched by an action director or a big director like VV Vinayak or Puri Jagannadh. His choice of films have become a talking point with his second film being Kanche. The film was shot very silently without much hulla bulla in Georgia and shocked audience with its theme and execution. The film directed by Krrish Jagarlamudi became a huge talking point as it was against caste system, a relevant social issue even today, visualised during Second World War.
Varun Tej attracted one and all with his performance. The film went on to win National Award in Regional cinema, for Telugu Films. His next, with Puri Jagannadh, Loafer became a disaster and an early set back in his career. Varun took his time and accepted two films from once highly regarded directors, Srinu Vaitla and Shekhar Kammula. Srinu Vaitla with two back to back disasters suddenly fallen out of the radar, who was till then regarded as big director and Shekhar lost his way since, Leader. After such a hard hitting film, he made Life is Beautiful and Anamika, but both found very lukewarm response at the box office.
Varun started Mister in the direction of Srinu Vaitla and simultaneously, started shooting for Fidaa with Sai Pallavi in Shehar Kammula direction. Mister with Lavanya Tripathi was supposed to release in December, but Varun broke his leg during a shooting schedule in Ooty and the actor had to take 50 day bed rest nursing his right leg. With this accident, both the films were delayed and actor now is back on his feet, fit to shoot. He is participating in Mister shoot in hyderabad and will later join Fidaa. The new release dates of the films will be announced soon once the impending schedules are finished taking the Demonetization effect into consideration. Actor himself shared his excitement to be back to work and he looked genuinely, happy.
