Vaitla Srinu promises a different ‘Mister’

Srinu Vaitla started off his career as a director with Nee Kosam an award winning serious film but got fame with his next film, Anandam. The young adult college love story became a huge musical sensation and the comedy is still fresh in the minds of Telugu audience. With the film, Devi Sri Prasad also came into prominence. After that, he directed Anandamanandamaye which did not score at the box office. He came back with Ravi Teja’s Venky that became a mass hit. Again the comedy became a huge hit with the audience, especially youth. Another film Sontham which was a free make of Dil Chahta Hai, first film of Namitha, also has a great comedy with Sunil and MS Narayana that is still a hit. With Venky, he got a golden chance to direct Megastar Chiranjeevi, but he delivered a flop with Andarivadu.

The movie became such a flop that to make his next movie he had to struggle hard. Still he managed by putting all his money and succeeded by making a successful comedy, Dhee with Vishnu. It was commercial success for Manchu Vishnu too. Deciding that only comedy is working for him, he decided to blend it in his stories to make minimum guarantee films further. His Ready, King, Dookudu worked really well and turned out to be blockbusters even though he had average successes with Dubai Seenu and Namo Venkatesa, he continued to be one of the sorted out directors and became one of person who is paid the highest remuneration.

But his next movies Badshah, Aagadu and Brucelee all were made with similar story and screenplay format. While Badshah became an average grosser, Aagadu and Brucelee turned to be all time disasters. Srinu Vaitla lost some respect due to the movies and some turbulent personal relationships with his team as well. Last year he promised to change his path again as his brand of comedy became too old. He is now making Mister with Varun Tej and Lavanya Tripathi along with Hebah Patel. The movie teaser seemed to be a love story and even the director confirmed that he moved away from his formulaic comedies and this movie will have emotional depth that he missed in his earlier movies. The movie is going for a Kerala schedule and the producers are planning for April 14th release.
