After the outbreak of the Coronavirus, many noted Telugu films have skipped the theatrical release and opted for a direct to digital release. After the Covid second wave, many filmmakers are literally in a tense mood to release their respective films in the theatres and going for a direct OTT release. Now, we bring you the list of upcoming films which are gearing up for direct digital streaming.
Starring Nani, Ritu Varma, Jagapathi Babu, Aishwarya Rajesh among others in the prominent roles, Tuck Jagadish was supposed to hit the screens in April but the release has been postponed due to the Covid crisis. Meanwhile, a couple of days back news came out that the film is going to skip its theatrical release and opt for a direct to digital release on noted streaming channel Amazon Prime Video. However, an official confirmation regarding Tuck Jagadish’s OTT release is awaited. Shiva Nirvana is the film’s director.
Being directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, Maestro is an official remake of the Hindi hit, Andhadhun. Starring Nithiin, Nabha Natesh, Tamannaah in the pivotal roles, the film’s streaming rights are bagged by one of the leading digital platforms, Disney Plus Hotstar. The streaming date of Maestro will be out officially soon.
Rajamouli’s assistant Ashwin Gangaraju’s directorial debut film, Aakashavaani’s streaming rights are bagged by noted OTT platform SonyLIV. Starring Kollywood actor Samuthirakani and Teja Kakumanu in crucial roles, the film is carrying decent expectations among the netizens.
Starring Rana Daggubati, Sai Pallavi, Priyamani, Nandita Das, Naveen Chandra, Eshwari Rao among others in prominent roles, Virata Parvam was supposed to hit the screens in April but the release plans are disturbed due to the Covid crisis. Later, news came out that digital giant Netflix has acquired the streaming rights of the film but there is no official confirmation regarding the film’s OTT release date. Venu Udugula is the film’s director.
Starring Victory Venkatesh, Meena, Ester Anil and Kruthika in the key roles, Drushyam 2 is a sequel to the 2014 film, Drushyam. Both the films are an official remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam films, Drishyam and Drishyam 2. Drushyam 2’s streaming rights are acquired by Disney Plus Hotstar and is gearing up for premieres soon. Jeethu Joseph has directed the movie.
Noted hero Sree Vishnu’s upcoming crime comedy, Raja Raja Chora’s streaming rights are bagged by noted streaming platform Zee5. Being directed by Hasith Goli, the film also stars Megha Akash, Sunaina as the female leads.
Hero Sharwanand’s upcoming film, Oke Oka Jeevitam is a Telugu-Tamil bilingual project being directed by Shree Karthick and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures has almost wrapped up its shooting part. Starring Amala Akkineni in the key role, the film has Ritu Varma as the female lead. Noted OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar has acquired the film’s streaming rights.
Noted director Maruthi kick-started a movie with Ek Mini Katha fame Santhosh Sobhan in June and wrapped up its entire shooting formalities in less than two months. Starring Mehreen in the female lead role, the film is aiming for a direct to digital release on Amazon Prime Video soon.

Young hero Vishwak Sen’s new film, Paagal’s streaming rights are bagged by noted digital platform Amazon Prime Video. Being directed by a debutant named Naressh Kuppili, the film also stars Nivetha Pethuraj, Simran Chaudhary and Megha Lekha as the female leads.
