After two years of dull phase due to the Covid crisis, the Tamil filmmakers are expecting a productive outcome in 2022 but the raise of Covid third waves cases for the past one weeks across the state is worrying them again. If the situation remains to be the same for the next couple of months, many noted films are expected to opt for a direct to digital release. List of Upcoming Tamil Movies OTT Releases in 2022

• Valimai

Starring Kollywood star Ajith in the lead role, Valimai is one of the most awaited movies in Tamil. The film’s release is locked as January 13th but due to the Covid-19 crisis, the film’s release is postponed indefinitely. Being directed by H Vinoth, the movie may opt for an OTT outing if the Covid situation remains to be same for the next few months.

• Etharkkum Thunindhavan

Etharkkum Thunindhavan starring Suriya and Priyanka Mohan as the lead pair is scheduled for a February release but considering the widespread Covid-19 cases, the film may opt for a direct to digital release. The film is being directed by Pandiraj.

• Madha Gaja Raja

Madha Gaja Raja starring Vishal, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Anjali in the lead roles was supposed to hit the screens a couple of years back itself but is being postponed due to financial problems. Directed by Sundar C, the film has high chances to opt for an OTT release soon.

• Hey Sinamika

Being directed by choreographer turned filmmaker Brinda, Hey Sinamika starring Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal in the key roles is a Tamil language romantic drama that is scheduled for a February release but due to the ongoing COVID circumstances, the movie may opt for a direct to digital release.

• Soora Puli

Starring Aditya in the lead role, Soora Puli directed by Anand Chakravarthy was supposed to hit the screens a few years back itself but is being postponed due to unknown reasons. As per the Kollywood reports, the movie has fair chances to opt for a direct to digital release soon.

• Kaan

Directed by Selvaraghavan, Kaan starring Simbu, Catherine Tresa and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles is facing financial problems for the past few years. Reportedly, the film has high chances to hit the OTT space sometime this year.

• Beast

Starring Vijay, Pooja Hegde as the lead pair, Beast is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film is scheduled for an April release but if the Covid situation remains to be the same for the next couple of months, the film may opt for a direct to OTT release soon.

• Don

Being directed by Cibi Chakravarthi, Don is an upcoming action drama that is scheduled for a theatrical release sometime in 2022. But if the COVID situation remains to be the same for the next few months, the film may opt for a direct to digital release. Siva Karthikeyan and Priyanka Mohan are the lead pair in the movie.

• Maaran

Starring Dhanush in the lead role, Maaran directed by Selvaraghavan is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2022 itself but if the Covid situation remains to be the same further, the film may skip the theatrical release and go for a direct to digital release.
