Upcoming Malayalam Movies in OTT 2022

For the past few decades, the Malayalam film industry is impressing with the kind of films being made. Along with senior directors, new-age filmmakers’ approach towards new concepts is only glorying the image of Malayalam cinema but for the past two years, along with the other film industries, the Malayalam industry is also suffering from the Covid-19 crisis. Even after the destruction created by the first and second waves, the Mollywood industry is still making films and multiple films are gearing up for a theatrical release in 2022. But due to the latest Covid third wave situation, many films are left with no option but to opt for an OTT outing. Now, we bring you the list of films that are likely to skip the theatrical release and opt for a direct digital release in the next couple of months.

  • Puzhu

Starring Malayalam Megastar Mammootty in the lead role, Puzhu directed by a debutant named Ratheena PT is going to skip its theatrical release and opt for a direct-to-OTT release. Noted digital platform SonyLIV has acquired the streaming rights for Puzhu. The streaming date is expected to be out soon.

  • Veyil

Marking the directional debut for Sarath Menon, Veyil starring Shane Nigam and Shine Tom Chacko in the lead roles is going to have an OTT release. Co-starring Sona Olickal, the film’s streaming rights are bagged by Amazon Prime Video. Reportedly, the film will be out on the digital platform on April 15th.

  • Naaradan

Starring Tovino Thomas, Anna Ben Nayarambalam, Rajesh Madhavan among others in key roles, Naaradan directed by Aashiq Abu. The film’s streaming rights are bagged by Amazon Prime Video and is slated for premiere on April 8th.

  • Bheeshma Parvam

Starring Mammooty in the lead role, Bheeshma Parvam directed by Amal Neerad had a theatrical release on March 4th. Later, the film is out on Disney Plus Hotstar on March 31st for digital audiences.

  • Hey Sinamika

Starring Dulquer Salmaan, Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari in the key roles, Hey Sinamika had a theatrical release on March 3rd. The film is later out on Netflix on March 31st.

  • Radhe Shyam

Prabhas20 First Look, Radhe Shyam Becomes A Talking Point1

Starring pan-India stars Prabhas and Pooja Hegde as the lead pair, Radhe Shyam’s Malayalam version along with other South versions came out on Amazon Prime Video on April 1st. Radha Krishna Kumar is the film director.

  • Pada

Starring Kunchacko Boban , Vinayakan, Dileesh Pothan in key roles, Pada directed by Kamal KM had a digital release on Amazon Prime Video on March 30th.

  • Aaraattu

Malayalam Superstar Mohan Lal’s action drama, Aarattu had a theatrical release in February. Later, the film came out on Amazon Prime Video on March 20th.

  • Lalitham Sundaram

Directed by Madhu Warrier, Lalitham Sundaram starring Biju Menon, Manju Warrier, Saiju Kurup, Deepti Sati and Anu Mohan in key roles had a direct to digital release on Disney Plus Hotstar on March 18th.

  • Salute

Starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, Salute directed by Rosshan Andrrews had a direct-to-ott release on SonyLIV on March 18th.

  • Super Sharanya

Starring Anaswara Rajan, Mamitha Baiju, Arjun Ashokan, Naslen K Gafoor in the lead roles had a theatrical release on January 7th. Later, the is premiered on Zee5 on March 11th.

  • Ajagajantharam

Directed by Tinu Pappachan, Ajagsjantharam had a theatrical release in December. Starring Antony Varghese, Kichu Tellus in key roles, the film later had a digital release on SonyLIV on February 25th.

  • Hridayam

Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, Hridayam is a romantic drama that had a theatrical release in January. Starring Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran in lead roles, the film later had an OTT release on Disney Plus Hotstar on February 18th.
