Kannada star director cum actor Rishab Shetty’s devotional blockbuster, Kantara is going great guns at the worldwide ticket windows. A couple of days back we had reported that Kantara is on track to breach Rs 300 crore gross by this weekend. Released on September 30th across Karnataka as a regional film, Kantara got a massive response from the opening day itself.
As the film got a good response in Kannada, the makers decided to release Kantara in the dubbed Telugu and Hindi languages. Kantara had a theatrical release in Hindi and Telugu on October 14th and 15th respectively. As per the trade reports, Kantara is performing beyond expectations in both Hindi and Telugu versions.
Especially in Telugu Kantara is having a solid run. Reports suggest that the Telugu version of Kantara alone has crossed Rs 50 crore gross. Tollywood producer Allu Arvind acquired the Telugu distribution rights of Kantara for Rs 2.6 crore, say reports. Now, he is going to witness a solid profit of more than Rs 25 crore with Kantara’s Telugu version.
In Hindi as well, Kantara is continuing its dream run and has already crossed Rs 30 crore gross in the North belt and is likely to reach Rs 50 crore gross mark this week. On the other hand, Kantara is minting good revenues in overseas as well. Overall, Kantara is expected to breach Rs 500 crore gross by the end of its full run at the box office globally, say trade reports.
