Unequal Treatment In Bollywood: Nushrratt Shares Her Story

Nushrratt Bharuccha recently spoke out about the gender bias still present in Bollywood. In an interview she revealed how male actors often receive better treatment like bigger vanity vans and business class travel while actresses struggle for the same comforts.

She shared instances where she had to request access to her co-star’s vanity van just to use a better washroom.

“I wouldn’t complain, but I’d tell myself that one day I’ll earn it by default,” she said. Nushrratt also recalled flying economy while her male co-star was given business class on the same flight.

She pointed out that male actors, even newcomers receive more opportunities after a hit, while women continue to fight for roles despite success. “All we ask for is fair chances” she said stressing the need for equal treatment.

She was last seen in Chhorii 2 and is yet to announce her next project.
