Every director goes through hits and flops in their respective careers, with very rare exceptions. With the changing market and the need for grandeur, the budgets of films are being bloated, resulting in huge prices for the distributors to buy the finished film, which in turn means huge ticket prices. With the negative effects this trend has had on the industry, things seem to be going back to normal eventually.
However, there are many directors and producers who have suffered because of this trend. The best example is director Puri Jagannadh, who sold his recently released film, Liger, for a considerably huge amount, to distributors. The film ended up being a huge loss for distributors as they lost out on huge money as no one turned up to watch the film in theatres.
Distributors Warangal Sreenu, and G Sobhan Babu, have been waging a war against Puri, demanding that the director compensate their losses. The issue has only been getting bigger, with Sreenu and Sobhan expected to take legal action against Puri now.
