Nag Ashwin decided to take on a different story like Yevade Subramanyam, in his first film. Now, he is coming with Savitri biopic, Mahanati which is completely a huge risk and no one dared to take up yet. He talked to media about the movie releasing on 9th May, with media on Monday. He said, “I did not know what to take up after my first movie like Yevade Subramanyam. I worked on different subjects but felt, this is the right time for a movie on Savitri.”
He continued, “We tried to keep everything real in this movie. We did not meet many film personalities because we got a huge pile of material from the books written on Savitri by many people. We took many references like photos and I tried to build scenes around it. As the movie is based on a story that we all know, we tried to seamlessly include the scenes from her famous movies, eleven, to be particular with her real life and career path.”
He then revealed that his main motto behind this movie is to not sensationalize the story of Savitri but to celebrate her life as a big story on big screen. He also stated that he did not try to deviate from facts and treated it as a love story for the major part. The team tried to fill the movie with exciting moments and hence bought it major cameos from different actors and they all came on board just to give her memory a huge tribute.
