Released on October 15, the Telugu version of Kannada blockbuster, Kantara is having dream run at the Telugu box office as well. After having a superb first week, Kantara even dominated the Diwali weekend releases in twin Telugu states.
As per the trade reports, from October 21st to 24th, Kantara generated Rs 9 crore gross from Telugu states. Among four Diwali releases, Karthi’s Sardar gained momentum to an extent and collected close to Rs 7.5 crore gross at the ticket windows. On the other hand, Vishwak Sen’s Ori Devuda and Sivakarthikeyan’s Prince reportedly collected Rs 5.5 crore and Rs 4.5 crore gross by the end of Diwali festival weekend respectively.
As expected Manchu Vishnu’s Ginna underperformed and collect only Rs 75 lakhs gross by the end of 4-day extended weekend. Even Chiranjeevi’s GodFather failed to make noise and collected only Rs 1 crore gross during the festival weekend. On the whole, the Diwali festival season helped Kantara and Sardar to an extent,say reports.
