It is well-known that due to the outbreak of deadly Corona second wave across the country, the film industry is once again facing a crisis. During the Covid first wave, most of the Indian films tilted towards a digital release and the same is expected to continue now also.
Coming to the circumstances in our twin Telugu states, soon after the theatres are re-opened in 2020, films like Solo Bathuke So Betteru, Krack, Red, Master, Jathi Ratnalu, Uppena among others got a red-carpet welcome from the audience.
After witnessing the overwhelming response from the Telugu audience, the makers of many big films such as Vakeel Saab, Acharya, Akhanda, Narappa, Love Story, Tuck Jagadish, Radhe Shyam, F3. But due to the sudden spike in the Corona second wave cases, after Vakeel Saab no other film had a theatrical release and postponed indefinitely as there is no clue on when the situation returns to normalcy.
From the past weeks, news has been circulating among media circles is that all the postponed films will start releasing from July or August depending on the then Covid situation.
Now, the latest talk coming in for the trade analysts is that the makers of all the big Telugu films are planning to release their respective films from the forthcoming Dusshera festive season.
A group of filmmakers have already initiated the proposal and kept it in front of the industry bigwigs. If the news turns into reality eventually, will the big films wait till the Dusshera season and release their films one after the other or go with alternative options? Remains to be seen.
