It is hard to keep a master out of his game. A master like AR Rehman will never be out of sight or competition as however slow he could be he always manages to shake the audience with at least one song for year from at least one album of his. This year Chaitanya Akkineni was lucky to find a brilliant chartbuster in rap melody, Vellipomakey. The song remained on top charts even though the film got delayed by several months. This song on its soul strength kept the interest over the movie alive.
Nannaku Prematho – Nannaku Prematho
Several songs manage to elevate the overall feel of the movie and not just a situation. The end song of critically acclaimed film and album of Devi Sri Prasad this year, Nannaku Prematho surprised everyone with a sad melody song toping charts after the release of the film. In fact it overtook I wanna follow you song sung by Jr.NTR for the same film. One of those rare gems from DSP after a long time.
Shailaja – Nenu Shailaja
The year of 2016 kick started with a success and Shailaja song from Nenu Shailaja album composed by DSP took the airwaves by storm and remains to be most downloaded after Nannaku Prematho song. The film highly benefited with the success of the album and this song that comes right after the break up is a big fan favorite.
Evare – Premam
The Malayalam remake film had many trolling it at the same time rooting for it by getting its casting and music right. While the whole Album received great love from the audience, Evare being taken from original saw great reception from original lovers of other languages too. Initially the film’s overcritism had been nullified by the song providing a positive hope to Naga Chaitanya fans who were worried about the actor not being able to deliver a solid hit at box office. Dikka dikka dum – Soggade Chinni Nayana
The peppy song sung by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Dhanunjay composed by Anup Rubens marginally edged out other songs from the album in the long run and became a great party song during the Sankranthi Season along with title track from the album. In fact all songs from the album saw a surge in popularity after the release of the movie.
I wanna follow – Nannaku Prematho
This could be the only album that has two songs in the list. The song sung by Jr.NTR was an instant hit and even after a whole year after its release it still has a following among the fans and is being heard at the parties most this New year.
Kabali title track – Kabali
The song mainly due to its theme and music arrangement coupled by Thailaivar Superstar Rajnikanth lines from the film had a major airwave blast and downloads too. The track composed by Santhosh Narayanan is placed among the best Rajni’s introduction songs ever. That is no mean achievement and even though film was deemed forgettable this song remains to be haunting the public.
Sardaar Gabbar Singh Title Track – Sardaar Gabbar Singh
The film might have bombed at the box office after initial sensational week but the popularity of the star propelled the title track to be most downloaded and played across the FM stations this year. DSP was able to manage to create a satisfying tune for the fans of Power star.
