Things have been fairly quiet and smooth sailing in Tollywood for the last few years, in terms of any investigations or the like. Four years ago, investigations into the alleged drug use of some Tollywood celebrities rattled and shook up the industry, but the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was formed by the Telangana government back then, dropped the investigation after they ruled out that there was no proof of drug use by any of these celebrities.
This case has once again become the hot topic in Tollywood, as the ED has taken over the case and has sent notices to several celebrities, requesting them to appear for investigation. They have collected information from the SIT in regards to this case and is about to investigate the financial angle of the case, instead of in the drugs angle.
Notices have been served to these celebrities under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, as big transactions are said to have been taken place, including these celebrities. Notices have been served to Puri Jagannadh, Charmee, Rakul Preet Singh, Rana Daggubati, Ravi Teja, Navdeep, Srinivas, Mumaith Khan, Nandu, Taneesh and Tharun, of which, Puri Jagannath will appear for investigation today.
