Tollywood: Sankranthi Theaters in High Demand

The Sankranti season has turned into a fierce battleground for the release of multiple films, one after another, with no apparent end to this influx of cinematic offerings. At present, half a dozen films have firmly locked in their release dates for the auspicious Sankranti period. However, a pressing question arises, is there enough room for all these films to thrive in this competitive environment? One movie facing a significant threat in this scenario is ‘HanuMan.’

The lineup of contenders includes ‘Guntur Karam,’ ‘Eagle,’ ‘Saindhav,’ ‘Naa Samiranga,’ ‘Hanuman,’ and the newcomer ‘Family Star.’ Among these, ‘Guntur Karam’ appears to be a strong contender for a Sankranti release. ‘Saindhav’ and ‘Family Star’ also possess a competitive edge, with the backing of industry heavyweights like Suresh Babu and Dil Raju. The availability of theaters doesn’t seem to be a pressing concern for these films.

In contrast, ‘Eagle’ has been shrouded in uncertainty lately, casting doubt on its Sankranti release. If ‘Eagle’ does join the race, it could potentially close the doors for any additional entrants. ‘Naa Samiranga’ is contingent on the progress of its shooting, but Nagarjuna aims to capitalize on the sentiment of his earlier releases hitting the screens for Sankranthi.

However, the prospects for ‘Hanuman’ securing theaters amidst this intense competition appear slim. While the film’s completion might not be an issue, finding a spot in the midst of this fierce rivalry poses a significant challenge, prompting a reconsideration of its release date.
