For the past few weeks, India is witnessing a sudden spike in the Covid cases and states like Delhi, Maharashtra in the North belt have already imposed lockdown restrictions. Coming to the theatre occupancy, while Delhi has completely went for shutdown, Maharashtra has limited the occupancy to only 50%. News is also that South states like Karnataka and Kerala have already announced fifty percent theatre occupancy. Though the twin Telugu states are yet to impose lockdown, if the Covid situation turns critical, individual governments will surely implement restrictions. Yesterday, even Tamil Nadu government announced that the theatre occupancy across the state will be limited to 50% as an immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the latest news is that considering the widely spreading Covid cases, the makers of Rajamouli’s prestigious project, RRR have decided to postpone the film’s release. News is also coming in that yet another pan-India project, Radhe Shyam will also follow the same route and will be postponed for the time being.
On the other hand, trade reports indicate that three films such as Bangarraju, producer Dil Raju’s nephew Ashish Reddy’s debut film, Rowdy Boys and Tamil star Ajith’s Valimai has high chances to hit the screens during Sankranthi festival season. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is awaited.a
