This year started out on a low note for Tollywood, after a lot of expectations. The initial idea was that biggies like Radhe Shyam and RRR would be released for Sankranthi this year, but the release of those films got postponed due to the increasing number of omicron cases at the time, in the country.
Films started to release normally from March again, but apart from films like RRR and KGF 2, no other film managed to make an impact at the box office, even Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam. The result of movies that were released only in Telugu was pretty bad, with Chiranjeevi’s Acharya turning out to be the biggest disappointment of the actor’s career, and Sarkaru Vaari Paata turning out to be a mediocre hit at the best.
With F3 though, which was released on the 27th, Tollywood has definitely picked up momentum, as the response has been tremendous with impressive box office reports everywhere. The film has been receiving mixed reviews but has managed to become a success, thanks to its target audience. With that, it is now to be seen how the other films that are lined up to release in the coming days will perform.
