There is no doubt in the fact that Tollywood’s audiences have changed a lot since before the onset of the pandemic. The stiatuon has especially become grave after the rise of OTT platforms and OTT content, so much so that the audience has decided that they want to go to the theatre to watch something that is truly spectacular and worth their time.
Mediocre movies have very well set the perfect example that audiences wouldn’t take any of the same things that they were severed previously, and the manner in which producers decided to increase ticket prices has also sent back a strong message to them that the audience is not ready to pay too much for entertainment, forcing producers to cut down on ticket prices for recent movies, which have shown everyone that this is what the audience wants.
Apart from these things, another thing that seems to be changing in Tollywood is that younger filmmakers are giving more importance to characters and stories, rather than to mindless action and glamour, something that was valued above all else previously. Surely, this seems to be a step in the right direction.
