Thug Life, a high-budget film starring Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, hit theatres on June 5th. This marked their reunion after 37 years. Expectations were sky-high, but the film opened to mixed and mostly negative reviews.
As a result, its box office performance on the first day wasn’t as strong as anticipated. Despite the star-studded cast and technical brilliance, the film only managed decent openings. Audience response and word of mouth played a key role in limiting the day-one earnings. The real test for Thug Life now lies in how it performs over the weekend.
Let’s have a look on 1st day collections:

On its first day, the movie collected a share of Rs. 1.29 crore, with a gross of Rs. 2.02 crore. This means it still has to earn Rs. 11.21 crore share to reach the break-even.
