The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) will honour director Karan Johar as he completes 25 amazing years in the business.
From August 11 to August 20, the festival will highlight Karan Johar’s outstanding contribution to Indian film by holding a number of events and special screenings in his honour.
Karan Johar said: “I am deeply honoured to be a part of the 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. This year holds a special significance for me as I celebrate 25 years as a filmmaker, and I can’t think of a better platform than this festival to commemorate this milestone in my career.”
I’m overwhelmed by the love and support the Australian crowd has shown me as I make my third appearance at the festival. I’m delighted and grateful that the festival has organized a special experience and celebrations to honour this significant turning point in my career,” the director, who made his directorial debut in 1998 with “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” said Karan Johar.
“I have the chance to think back on my 25 years as a filmmaker, the difficulties, the successes, and the lessons I’ve learned that have influenced my aesthetic perspective. I am excited to give a unique discussion at the festival where I will share knowledge and tales from my experience in an effort to uplift and motivate other filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts he told further
The festival’s director, Mitu Bhowmick Lange, commented regarding the impending event: “Karan Johar is a true icon of Indian cinema, and his impact on the industry cannot be emphasized. At the Melbourne Indian Film Festival this year, we have the opportunity of paying tribute to his incredible career and his priceless contributions to Indian cinema.
“Karan Johar’s remarkable journey as a filmmaker spans 25 years, during which time he has created a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come,” she continued.
