Theatres won’t open anytime soon – Telangana Minister

Telangana Cinematography Minister, Sri Talasani Srinivas Yadav in an interview with a media outlet shared that the Government is not favour opening theatres for 2-3 months, at the least. He said that the theatres in rural areas won’t have enough financial support to host films with social distancing norms. Hence, he opined that it would be better to open theatres after August and until then, the government is not going give permissions to open theatres. He also said that the theatre owners from urban areas are eager to open the theatres but government has to take a balanced decision that will impact everyone.

Talking about giving permissions to shoots, post production works, he said that the social distancing norms will have to be followed by filmmakers to start production again. He also said that serial makers, Television employees have asked the government to give them permissions to produce content in a concise manner and in confined environment with less crew. But the problem, he said that the government has to think about even one of the members joining the team having Covid-19 disease and that will complicate issues further for them. Hence, he said that they have to think about everything and every aspect before taking a decision.

So, film Industry professionals might have to wait for few more days to start functioning and hope that the number of cases will reduce considerably over next few weeks or over June month, to start functioning regularly from July.
