When Love Insurance Kompany (LIK) released in April 2026 it seemed like a regular futuristic romantic drama. But the film actually has a long and interesting journey behind it.
The project began in 2018 with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead under Lyca Productions titled SK17 and directed by Vignesh Shivan.
The story was set in 2040 and focused on a unique system that controls relationships. However differences over script changes led to the director stepping away and the film was put on hold.
After several years, the project was revived with Pradeep in the lead and a new production team. Finally, after almost eight years, the film released in 2026 with a mixed response.
Still, what makes LIK special is its long journey from an SK project to its final version on screen.
