Telugu Cinema is undergoing the worst phase since its inception. There are no movie releases from the past four months. Even shootings are not happening owing to the current pandemic situation. There are reports that the Central Government will issue permissions to reopen the theaters from August 1st.
However, Tollywood Exhibitors and Distributors Council are not too keen to reopen the theaters immediately. It would be a huge risk to reopen the theaters as the positive cases spike continues. There are talks that permissions will grant with social distancing guidelines. There should only be 50 percent occupancy in the theaters. Sanitization must be done to the theater after every show. Even if a single positive case gets registered, that particular screen should be closed. With these guidelines and the current mindset of the public, it is not a wise decision to reopen the theaters.
So Tollywood will be waiting until the Dussehra season. This is one of the major holiday seasons for Tollywood. Currently, a bunch of films is awaiting their releases. V, Red, Uppena, Nishabdam are ready for release. So they will be the first to get a release for Dussehra season.
