Vijay Sethupathi is loved by fans for his strong performances but he keeps his personal life very much private. His wife Jessy Sethupathi has Malayali roots and was raised much in Chennai. She stays away from the limelight and focuses on family life.

Before becoming an actor Vijay struggled a lot. He worked as a salesman and cashier and even moved to Dubai to work as an accountant.

It was in Dubai that he met Jessy. They first connected through social media and became friends by chatting online. They grew close even before seeing each other in person.

Convincing their families was not easy at first but they stayed strong.

Surprisingly they met for the first time on their engagement day. They married in 2003 and have two children, Surya and Shreeja.
