A lot of films raced ahead for their release for this year’s Sankranthi, but ultimately failed, as the new variant of coronavirus, Omicron, was on the rise during that season. As a result, most of the major films that were supposed to release that day ultimately got postponed, and are now set to be released from March.
In the meantime, the race for Sankranthi 2021 has officially begun, with Young Rebel Star Prabhas’s Adipurush being announced to be released on January 12, 2023. The film was supposed to be released this year itself but got postponed. On the other hand, there are several other films that are eyeing the same release date, including Ram Charan’s film with director Shankar.
Several other big films are also eyeing the same date, but no official confirmation has been given yet. While the impact of the pandemic has significantly decreased, it is to be seen if Adipurush and the other films would be able to release as per plan, or if they would have to be postponed in the end.
