The OG Ramayana is Back on Television for ‘National Detoxification’!

The return of the Indian epic Ramayana to television is welcome news for fans in the wake of the Adipurush controversy.

Good news for all Ramayana devotees! Netizens have been clamouring for a repeat of Om Raut’s Adipurush ever since it premiered in theatres. We shared with you the netizens’ reactions a few days after its publication, in which they urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to broadcast Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana on television. It appears that the desires of the fans have been honoured because Ramayana will soon be back on television.

Arun Govil plays Lord Ram in the mythology television programme, alongside Dipika Chikhlia as Sita Mata, Sunil Lahri as Laxman, Arvind Trivedi as Raavan, and Dara Singh as Lord Hanuman. Netizens urged a rerun of the Prabhas starrer after it was released for the “national detoxification.”

Shemaroo TV just announced the good news on their social media accounts. Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana is scheduled to premiere on Shemaroo TV on June 3 at 7:30 PM in the midst of Adipurush’s disaster. Well, this isn’t the first time the programme has made a comeback on television. After PM Narendra Modi made the significant statement, the episode was rebroadcast on national television during the COVID lockdown.

While Adipurush is being criticised by everyone, lead actors Arun Govil, Sunil Lahri, and Dipika Chikhlia all offered their opinions on the situation. After setting some records on its opening day, the movie has been having trouble at the box office. The impact of the controversy surrounding the movie is evident in its box office earnings because it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

In an interaction Arun Govil said, “What I believe is that we should not fool around or we should not take liberties with God. We are very sensitive people, Indians are very sensitive people about their religion, as others are. We Hindus are very sensitive. Other religions are also very sensitive (but) nobody does anything there with other religions. Why? Why us only? Why are they experimenting? What do they want to say?” While Dipika had said Ramanaya is not for entertainment.
