The Little Mermaid has been making all the noise around the world with its global release slated for the 26th of May. In a recent interview with an Indian publication, director Rob Marshall, one of the greatest Hollywood filmmakers has expressed his desire to work with Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
When he was asked about his interest in working with Indian actors, he instantly replied ‘Naatu Naatu’ actors hinting at Ram Charan and Jr NTR. He further added that the two actors are amazing and fantastic. He also was particularly impressed by their physicality and commended their performances in ‘RRR’ and their extraordinary dancing skills. In an interview with the Indian Express, Marshall said, “I have to say the two amazing actors in the film (RRR). The Naatu Naatu actors they are just fantastic. The way they came out.. how great they are. Also, they are so physical. They dance so beautifully. They are really incredible.”
In The Little Mermaid, Halle Bailey, best known for her role in the TV series grown-ish, will play the role of Ariel, the curious and adventurous mermaid who longs to explore the world beyond the sea. Jonah Hauer-King will play the role of Prince Eric, the human who catches Ariel’s eye. The movie will also feature several acclaimed actors and actresses in supporting roles.
Daveed Diggs, who won a Tony Award for his performance in the musical Hamilton, will lend his voice to Sebastian, the red crab and advisor to King Triton. Awkwafina, who starred in Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon, will voice the character of Scuttle, the eccentric seagull.
Disney India releases The Little Mermaid on 26th May, 2023, in English only in theatres.
