In light of the continuing controversy, Muslim protestors in Birmingham crashed a showing of the Adah Sharma movie The Kerala Story.
According to media sources, Muslim activists in Birmingham rushed a screening of the divisive Bollywood film “The Kerala Story,” starring Adah Sharma, which has caused a rift in India amid concerns that it undermines “religious harmony.”
An activist from Kashmir named Shakeel Afsar led a group of demonstrators who interfered with the showing of “The Kerala Story” on Friday at a Cineworld theatre in Birmingham.
Afsar, 35, and a group of protesters entered a theatre showing The Kerala Story in a 10-minute footage posted on the British Muslim news website “5Pillars” that caused the movie to be paused.
In the video, Afsar and at least two other people approach the theatre manager to discuss the movie’s ‘Islamophobic’ content.
According to the Daily Mail, audience members were spotted approaching the campaigners and urging them to leave as mayhem broke out during the screening of The Kerala Story at the Cineworld.
The theatre attendant announced, “If you want to watch this film, you should calm down first. I am going to resume this film. We’re trying to deal with this in the best way we can. We’ve paused the film, we’ve turned the lights on, we’ve called the police.”
Afsar, a businessman and real estate developer, spearheaded a push to have “The Lady of Heaven” removed from theatres last year. After protesting against the teaching of LGBT values in Birmingham in 2019, he was also forbidden from holding future demonstrations there, according to the Daily Mail.
Adah Sharma played the main part in The Kerala Story, with Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani playing minor roles.
