SS Thaman started his career as a drums player and then acted in Shankar’s Boys movie. After that he completed shifted his focus to music and joined Harris Jayaraj and Mani Sharma as music assistant and learnt the craft of mixing and composing from them. Slowly, he approached directors for chance and got noticed with Vaishali. Then Surrender Reddy gave him his big break with the movie, Kick.Since, Kick in a very less time Thaman completed more than 50 movies and he is racing towards 100. His sound quality for Kick impressed audience and directors alike and in no time he replaced Mani Sharma who was the go to music director for Star films. Ravi Teja encouraged him the most and then with Mahesh Babu’s Dookudu, he became the busiest of the music directors of all.
His albums Ragada, Nayak, Baadshah, Ramayya Vastavayya, Businessman got him name but due to only few of them being commercially successful and music became repetitive as well. Thaman changed that impression again courtesy, Surrender Reddy with Race Gurram. The movie became a Blockbuster and every song became a huge hit. He then continued his form with Brucelee and Sarrainodu. Both the albums have become hit even though Brucelee did not become a hit at box office.
Thaman also did music for all the star heroes starting from Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, BalaKrishna, Mahesh Babu, Jr. NTR, Ravi Teja and others. Even though he was extremely successful never got a chance to work with Pawan Kalyan. Finally, he got the chance to give music to Pawan as well. The music director himself announced this good news on Twitter, stating that he will be giving music to Neason and Pawan Kalyan film, a remake of Vedalam produced by AM Ratnam.
