A week ago, Telangana single-screen theatre owners announced a new percentage-based system for Hyderabad theatres.
Around 23 theatres agreed to follow this model. As per the plan, distributors would receive 60% share from net collections in the first week, 50% in the second week and 40% in the third week.
However, the Active Telugu Film Producers Guild held a meeting today and strongly opposed this system. Producers believe it will reduce their earnings, especially in the crucial first week.
Except for Dil Raju and Suresh Babu, all producers decided to reject the new model and continue with the old system.
They also made it clear that they won’t release films in theatres following this percentage system, shocking exhibitors.
