This summer, there’s a big slowdown in the Tollywood and Bollywood movie scene. No major Telugu or Hindi films are hitting theaters until May, which is unusual. In Bollywood, recent releases like “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” and “Maidaan” didn’t do well, making things worse.
Telugu cinema had delays in big films like “Devara” and “Kalki 2898 AD,” and smaller films didn’t do much, except “Tillu Square.” But the future looks brighter for Telugu cinema with big stars like Prabhas, NTR Jr, and Ram Charan coming up with films like “Kalki 2898 AD,” “Devara,” and “Game Changer.”
These could also help Hindi cinema, with movies like “Pushpa 2,” dubbed versions of “Devara,” and Suriya’s “Kanguva” set for release in North India. This might be just what struggling Bollywood needs, especially after the big success of “Jawaan.” They really need Telugu and other South Indian films to do well.
