Telugu Cinema has been accused of being a land of hypocrisy and older actors look for always fresh meat in their movies while older actresses are sidelined. Well, such times are changing or at least starting to change. While the fresh talent is still in demand, the older and senior patrons are not being ignored here. Samantha, Shruthi Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Tamannah and even Shriya getting offers besides younger heroes and the actresses too are OK with acting in a less popular hero film than their previous films.
Samantha is happy to mix the things out as she played opposite Nithiin in A.. Aa and the actress said, “Script is the most important and without content you can’t guarantee a hit. Star Power can pull up openings but doesn’t ensure a film to be a hit.” Tamannah too had similar things to tell about starring opposite Sundeep Kishan in her next film directed by Kunal Kohli. Interestingly actor Sandeep Kishan also had very sane reasoning for casting her opposite him. He said, “When story requires a certain kind of a face you should not look here and there when you have a suitable match right in front of you. Even though she has been around longer than me, we both are off same age group and we gel well.”
Nara Rohit who is acting with Shriya Saran in his Veera Bhoga Vasantharayalu, said, “Ws should give script the most priority and not the actress age or even actor’s age. When you know that a certain actor is better for your script then you should not let the other things effect your decision. If the script is good enough and choices are convincing then you should not be discouraged by other issues. Also, my film is an anthology and she fits the bill, perfectly.” Rakul Preet too expressed that she doesn’t care about the status of her co-stars before signing a film and script is more important to her. Well, with actors putting more emphasis on script than star rating, seems like Telugu Cinema is welcoming a change, don’t you think so?
