During the upcoming Sankranthi festival, there won’t be any space in theaters for Tamil films in the AP Telangana states. This situation arose primarily because of the packed schedule of Telugu movies releasing during that period. Films featuring Tamil stars like Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam, Dhanush’s Captain Miller Captain, Siva Karthikeyan’s Ayalaan.
Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas, and Arun Vijay’s Mission had plans for a simultaneous release in the Telugu market. However, due to the dominance of Telugu films during Sankranthi, there aren’t enough theaters available for Tamil releases.
Producer Dil Raju also mentioned that there’s a scarcity of screens for Telugu movies themselves, leaving no room for dubbed films to find a place. This means that the priority will be given to Telugu films, and only if there are remaining theaters might they consider accommodating dubbed movies.
The high number of big-budget Telugu films lined up for Sankranthi, like Guntur Kaaram, Hanuman Saindhav, and Eagle, will make it challenging to allocate screens for Tamil releases. Consequently, it’s expected that the Tamil films might hit the Telugu theaters after the Sankranthi festival period, once there’s more availability of screens due to the culmination of the holiday rush.
