Tamil star Vijay’s Vaarasudu released during Sankranthi festival season and minted a opening of Rs 3 crore. Directed by Vamshi Padipally, the film managed to achieve break-even status amdist tough competition from the Telugu senior stars like Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi with the films like Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya.

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project Ponniyin Selvan-1 which released last year during Dasara festival season had collected Rs 2.81 crore and managed to achieve break-even status here in Telugu.
