Aparshakti Khurana is all set to make his Tamil debut with Root, a sci-fi crime thriller featuring Gautham Ram Karthik in the lead. Aparshakti plays a serial killer with grey shades and his role is more of an antihero than a typical villain.
Director Sooriyaprathap S shared that he was impressed by Aparshakti’s performance in the web series Jubilee and had wanted to work with him since then.
“His character hardly has any dialogue in the first half so we needed someone who could express emotions without words”, he said.
The director was surprised at how smoothly the process of casting a Bollywood actor went. “We often think it’s hard to approach Hindi actors, but that’s a misconception”.
“Aparshakti was open, understood the role over the phone, read the script the same day, and we finalized everything within a week,” he said. He added that Bollywood actors respect and welcome stories from the South.
