In Lust Stories 2, Tamannaah Bhatia spoke candidly about her hesitation to perform intimate sequences in the South and what ultimately inspired her to.
Amannaah Bhatia has spent the majority of her career playing supporting roles in big-budget films with male lead actors. But the Veeram actress plays a key role in Sujoy Ghosh’s short in the upcoming film Lust Stories 2.
In a recent conversation, Tamannaah went into great detail about how she waited a long time for a role of this nature to prove herself. The actress also discussed how she had avoided performing in personal moments for a long time before being prepared to do so now.
Tamannaah discussed the stigma surrounding intimate situations and how she was able to shift her perspective and stop doing any for the camera. She also mentioned that she loved Lust Stories when it was released in 2018.
She said, “For an actor like me because I have done a lot of commercial cinema, I am first the audience of Lust Stories 1. It really gave me the power as a female actor and as just an audience that people want to watch these stories.”
The actress added, “The taboo and shame around it is slowly wearing away because we are moving with the times and everyone is evolving. So, I was the first audience that lapped it up. I enjoyed it. I remember everyone that I knew had watched it, and everyone seemed to have enjoyed it.”
The actress also discussed her reluctance to do personal moments and the impact it has made now that she has. Performing personal sequences, according to Tamannaah, no longer seemed like a big enough deal for her and felt more like a necessary component of conveying a tale.
She said, “I have had literally next to no intimacy. So for me as an actor, it was a great opportunity to understand that something like intimacy is also just like any other scene. It’s like a scene in which we are eating food, or it’s like a scene in which we are doing an action. It is choreographed.
It turns out that defying expectations was another factor in her decision to be intimate on camera. “The whole process actually demystified so many things for me as a person and as an actor,” says Tamannaah. An actor like me needed to show the audience a side of me that they hadn’t seen before. I was so eager to prove to them that I am a skilled actor.
