Sye Raa costly costumes!

Costume design for any film is not a simple job. Whatever you see on screen, a team has to create such environment that doesn’t dominate the two leads or the lead in the scene who is the major attraction of that scene. Even a supporting character can be the lead of that particular scene who scores from brownie points and customs for the background actors and that particular lead should be different so that illusion will be perfect for the audience to believe it as true, at least for that moment.

Many fis rope in two to three costume designers as per the requirements of the story. Also, actors have their personal preferences, so they get employed too even if the story is not an historical drama or an epic blockbuster like Baahubali. Designing for movies like Sye Raa and Baahubali is not easy too. You have to create an illusion for bygone era and also see that everything looks stylish and admirable.

Well, we don’t really know what is the budget for Baahubali costumes but Rajamouli did say it is more than 10% of the budget and now, Sye Raa, numbers are also astonishing. Megastar Chiranjeevi starrer, periodic film, based on first known freedom fighter from Telugu land, Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy, Sye Raa is said to be made on a budget of 125 crores and recently, the shoot of the movie has started. Just for the costumes more than 5 crores have been already spent to get the look right it seems. This budget is just for Megastar Chiranjeevi’s costumes and we don’t know how much it will cost by the end of the production. Nayantara, Pragya Jaiswal are confirmed as lead actresses and stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Jagapathi Babu, Sudeepa Kicha, Vijay Sethupathi are playing crucial roles in this Surrender Reddy directorial produced by Ram Charan.
