Swara Bhasker recently criticised Vivek Agnihotri on Twitter for “name calling” and “accusing” Muslims in the nation of practising their faith.
Vivek Agnihotri, the director of The Kashmir Files, is once again making news for his contentious remarks. A journalist recently criticised the director for confusing a recent prize with the legendary Dada Saheb Phalke award. After a contentious Twitter exchange with journalists, the debate turned political when he referred to one of them as a “jehadi pimp.” Swara Bhasker, who just announced her engagement to youth activist Fahad Ahmad, is the most recent person to respond to the same situation.
It began when the director posted images from the Dadasaheb Phalke International Awards, where The Kashmir Files took home the trophy for “Best Film.” Later on, though, he came under fire for bringing up the Dada Saheb Awards, a completely unrelated ceremony.
Swara Bhasker criticised the filmmaker on Twitter this afternoon for “name calling” and “accusing” Muslims in the nation of practising their religion. Vivek Agnihotri calling Muslim individuals names, cursing at them, and condemning them on public platforms just because they are Muslim is a striking illustration of how filthy, poisoned, prejudiced, and majoritarian our public discourse has become in the “New India,” the tweeter wrote. Sickening. @zoo bear @hussainhaidry @sayema
The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri responded to ALT News co-founder Mohammed Zubair’s Twitter about his hatred of “fact-checkers,” which is where it all started for the uninitiated. In response, Vivek tweeted, “No, my darling… I dislike those who pretend to be fact checkers more than I dislike fact checkers themselves. Because you are nothing more than a jehadi pimp for India’s adversaries, and I am fully aware of your backers. Tera waqt jaldi aane wala hai aur har jihadi ka waqt aata hai It’s Sambhal ke Raho.
This is when it took a different route as Zubair later told Vivek Agnihotri, “The words used by you shows your hate towards the Muslim community. DON’T DELETE THIS. Let the World know.” He further re-tweeted the same and then wrote, “Words like “Jihadi” or “Puncture wala” against Muslims were earlier used by faceless Right Wing trolls, It’s now openly being used by Verified trolls like @vivekagnihotri
Well not only him, even another journalist shared the screenshot of Agnihotri’s Tweet on Twitter and wrote “If you truly want to understand a person, let him speak. His words would reveal who he is”
