SVP’s missed opportunity to go pan-India

Superstar Mahesh Babu is the only star actor in Tollywood who hasn’t yet actively ventured into the pan-Indian space. He is a very well known actor in the whole of India and enjoys a decent amount of fanbase in the North as well. Despite having gotten several Bollywood offers in the past, the actor refused all of them and constantly maintained that he has no intention of going to Bollywood and that he is very much happy with sticking to Tollywood.

The first pan-Indian movie that Mahesh would be attempting would be his film with Rajamouli, which will start shooting only after the current commitments of Mahesh and Rajamouli will come to an end. That could be towards the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023. In the meantime, Mahesh lost out on a golden opportunity to go pan-India with his upcoming film Sarkaru Vaari Paata.

It was initially reported that director Parasuram narrated the story of SVP to Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, and wanted him to play the lead antagonist in SVP. Anil Kapoor was also said to have been impressed by the narration. There were no more reports on Anil Kapoor’s involvement in the project later on, and it was reported that the team was looking at other actors to play the antagonist. Had the team of SVP been able to lock Anil Kapoor as the villain, the film would have done good business in Bollywood and could be marketed as a pan-Indian film. Fans have been highly disappointed since then, and are hoping that there’s still some way Ani Kapoor could be a part of SVP.
