The movie features Suriya alongside the talented Disha Patani in Goa, intertwining the past and the present. Director Siva emphasized that Kanguva is not a fantasy film and the protagonist possesses no supernatural powers. The setting is mythological, showcasing a crucial historical event that unfolded 1500 years ago in Tamil Nadu.

His portrayal as Kanguva displays immense power, as he tames clouds, rides wild elephants, and confronts a white tiger, instilling fear in his enemies.
