Actor Surya has been in town to promote NGK, which is releasing on May 31 and the actor liked pretty happy about the political drama. Directed by Selvaraghavan, the film has Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi as the leading ladies. Here is what he said about the political thriller.
What made you say yes for NGK?
Firstly, it is the director Selvaraghavan. I have been wanting to work with Selvaraghavan since a long time and finally when the day came, I was on cloud nine. Among the four scripts he has brought to me, I have chosen It is an intense political drama which is pretty much similar to the many present situations in our society.
Is working with Selvaraghavan is like going to school?
I prefer calling it an ashram, rather than a school. No mobile phones, no guests, no chit chats. Of course it is like a school where there will be a lot of discipline. But such a school which will teach you a lot and you will miss is later.
Why did you insist on getting a U certificate for the film?
We had no visual cuts for the film. We had both but verbal cuts. So we did all the changes that were necessary and so I thought we’re deserve a U.
A political drama after 15 long years since the release of Yuva. Why?
No gap if purposeful or intentional. I don’t know why, but a political genre film couldn’t happen after that. I was busy do9ing films in other genres and commercial entertainers. And I think I didn’t any script it was as interesting as NGK and no director like Selvaraghavan came to me with such script. I didn’t happen. That’s it!
