With Unlock to lockdown happening in India slowly, many businesses are looking to operate very carefully with Covid-19 pandemic still in its upswing in the country. Few are opening their shops and few are looking to operate more from online platforms. What about theatres then? Shootings are expected to start from third week of June or first week of July with 50 crew members. “But theatres won’t open till October”, said Suresh Babu in a media interview.

He said, “We saw 2% occupancies in China and UAE. People are not ready to risk their lives and watch films in theatres just yet. It will take some more time to the situation to come under control. “We can open theaters only after 3 months past the shootings have started. We can’t hurry and open for small time gains. I am looking at a long term business opportunity. Already, theater business is not being fruitful in India and we can’t mount losses with low occupancies,” remarked the producer.

So, we can expect the movie theaters to open in October or November in Telugu states. Suresh Babu is also the biggest distributor in TFI and hence, his words needs to be taken seriously!
