Supreme Court Criticizes High Court Over Darshan’s Bail Order

The Supreme Court has paused the decision in the Renukaswamy murder case and criticized the Karnataka High Court for granting bail to actor Darshan and others.

Justice BR Gavai’s bench questioned if the High Court used proper judgment while approving the bail. “Does the High Court treat all bail cases like this?” they asked.

The panel called it a “wrong use of discretion” and said it will not repeat the same mistake. Since the case involves murder and conspiracy, the court said it must be handled seriously.

The court also blamed co-accused Pavitra Gowda, saying her actions triggered the entire situation. Her lawyer denied direct involvement, but the court didn’t dive into arguments. It said it will first check if the prosecution’s case is strong.

The Supreme Court also questioned why the High Court didn’t consider eyewitnesses Kiran and Puneet. Karnataka’s lawyer said there’s strong evidence supporting the case, including call data, DNA, and more.
