Sunny Deol starrer romantic period action drama film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha with director Anil Sharma was released in June 2001 and went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film.
Over the year, “Gadar” gained cult status with immense popularity among all age groups, and now, the makers are coming with its sequel Gadar: The Katha Continues which is gearing up for its release in August this year. It is set 20 years after the first film and will see Sunny Deol reprising his role along with Ameesha Patel, and grown-up Utkarsh Sharma.
Now, the makers are planning to re-release “Gadar” in cinemas in a 4K version ahead of its sequel’s release. According to Pinkvilla, “Gadar” will be re-released in cinema halls all across the country on June 9, which coincides with the week in which Gadar was released back in the day.
It is said to be a proper wide re-release as it will also be released in single screens along with multiplex chains. The plan is to prepare the audience for its sequel by showing them what happened in the first part. The release strategy, theatre listing, and other plans will be unveiled shortly.
