Finally addressing the significant box office competition between Gadar 2 and OMG 2, Sunny Deol also admits that he hasn’t seen Lagaan.
Gadar 2 by Sunny Deol, which will compete with OMG 2 by Akshay Kumar, is just a few days away from opening in theatres. The actor is now busy promoting the movie. If one recalls, his Gadar and Ek Prem Katha both competed against Aamir Khan’s Lagaan at the box office, and both films won. Sunny has since pondered about these conflicts and shared his opinions.
The fans are significantly more enthusiastic about this sequel than they were for Khiladi Kumar since it will reunite Sunny and Ameesha Patel. Since there is far more buzz about Deol’s film, it will be interesting to watch whether both films perform well at the box office once more.
On a recent episode of Aaj Tak’s Seedhi Baat, the Gadar 2 actor was questioned about the upcoming competition between his film and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. When asked that, Sunny Deol responded, “Mujhe kuch pata nahi.” But he went on to say, “Competition uss waqt bhi jab humne Gadar lagayi thi aur Lagaan thi, aur log Lagaan, Lagaan kar rahe the maine socha hi nahi tha,” bringing up the similarity between Gadar and Aamir Khan’s Lagaan from years ago. Jo hoga so hoga, Meri Gadar hai.
When compared to Lagaan, Sunny Deol’s first movie performed far better, and when asked about this, the Gadar 2 actor said, “But Gadar ne jo dandha kiya, (Lagaan ne) uska not even 2% or 5% kiya hoga jo Gadar ne kiya. I respond, “I don’t see the comparison, but it’s definitely a good film,” when they compare it that way.
“Lagaan I have not seen, but it was a good, very good film,” he continued. For those who are unaware, this Aamir Khan-starring movie received an Academy Award nomination in the category of “Best Foreign Language Film.”
On August 11th, the movies Gadar 2 and OMG 2 will be released in theatres.
