Sudha Kongara has sparked a strong debate with her comments on pay inequality in the industry.
She said that despite delivering a widely appreciated blockbuster she is not paid according to her success. Her remarks have gained attention ahead of the release of her next film Parasakthi on January 10th.
In an interview Sudha spoke openly about the pay gap she faces. She said that when male directors are paid Rs. 100 crore for a film, she is paid only Rs. 50 crore for doing the same work and handling similar big budget projects.
She asked why directors like her should be underpaid when viewers come to theatres for their films.
She also said that she has turned down several projects because of pay. She added that even leading actresses in good films often earn far less than their male leads.
